Gallifreyan History is the first part of what turned into a two part story. These being light weight stories without a lot of action, I was free to explore the history of Gallifrey a little bit. This is pretty much a blank page apart from the story of the Death Zone which was mentioned in The Five Doctors. Much of what I wrote about the Death Zone ties in with that storyline. But where Rassilon is something of a sinister character in the TV series, I have always portrayed him as a benevolent creator with a bit of a sense of humour.

The other stuff about the Twelve Sons of Rassilon who sired the Twelve Ancient Houses is my own mythology. I named them as:-

“Lœngbǽrrow, Ravenswode, Arpexia, Pretarion, Ixion, Ellixian, Patriclian, Arcalian, Hadandrox, Argenlunna, Stǐllhǽvęn, Borrusilan.”

Other Oldblood houses, but not as old as the twelve have been named in various stories in either Marion and Kristoph or Theta Sigma. They include…

Cerulian, Oakdăĕηĕ, Hext, Bórusson, Dúccesci, Artexian Másξẽntǽn, Patrexean, Bŏnnŏenfānt, Reidluum. Drogban, Găllissa, Kannőis, Dvore, Dvora, Gyes, Amycus, Cronuos, Coeus

Then there are the Newbloods….

Koschei, Chárr, Mírraflaex, Lundar. D’Alba, Lessage, Malthis Harpaindrix, Gellovia, Dvoratre, Braxiatel, Maxic, Draxic, Ussian, Arunden, Luchessa, Hallan, Goth, Hedin, Kocieda.

Obviously, the Newblood and other Oldbloods can be added to as I go along and need new names, but the Twelve stay the same. Whether Rassilon had twelve wives or one really busy one is a running joke in several of the stories. One day I might answer it... or not.

Meanwhile the story ends on a scary note as they find themselves infected and unable to return home to Earth because of a quarantine.
