Adam was a 'genius' in the employ of Mr
Van Statten when The Doctor and Rose met him. Exactly what he was
a genius at was never quite explained. The only thing he seemed good
at was running faster than Rose when the bulkheads were falling. The
Doctor was reluctant to bring Adam along with them at the end of the
adventure but Rose persuaded him. On Platform Five he proved even
more inept than ever, allowing himself to be used by the Editor to
gain information about The Doctor and having a portal installed in
his head that could be opened and shut with a snap of the fingers.
The Doctor left him back home in England with the portal still working
as punishment for his foolish behaviour. As a companion he was far
from a success. As a rival for Rose’s attentions he had very
little chance. Bruno Langley was born on March 21, 1983 in Buxton, England. From 2001 to 2004, he layed the character of Todd Grimshaw in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street. As the first openly gay character on the show, he developed a large gay following. After leaving Coronation Street, he went on to
play other roles, most notably the part of Adam Mitchell in the 2005
series of Doctor Who with Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper,
appearing in two episodes, "Dalek" and "The Long Game".
He also provided an audio commentary for the DVD of these episodes
. He also filmed a small role in the feature film The League of Gentlemen's
Apocalypse, released in June 2005, an episode of Dalziel and Pascoe,
the little seen film Halal Harry, and read Horace for BBC
In the summer of 2005, Bruno Langley appeared in an acclaimed run of Romeo and Juliet opposite fellow Soap opera alumna Scarlett Johnson at Stafford Castle and on 30 October 2005 he appeared on stage at the Old Vic theatre in London in the play Night Sky alongside Christopher Eccleston, Navin Chowdhry, David Warner, Saffron Burrows and David Baddiel. In Spring 2006, he appeared in Life Imitates Art at the Camden People's Theatre. In 2006, he was seen in a production of A Taste of Honey which toured the UK extensively and played a short run at the Richmond Theatre.
