Chang Lee was a teenage hoodlum in San Francisco
Chinatown. His friends were all gunned down by a rival gang when their
games went too far. Chang Lee was saved by the TARDIS materialising
in front of him. When The Doctor was shot instead he called an ambulance
and stayed with him to the hospital but when he was told The Doctor
was dead he panicked and ran off with his personal effects. He found
his way into the TARDIS but had been followed by The Master and was
tricked into doing his bidding. Chang Lee realised too late that The
Master was the evil one and The Doctor good. The Master killed him
by breaking his neck but after he had been defeated both Chang Lee
and Grace Holloway were brought back to life by the TARDIS. The Doctor
warned him not to be in San Francisco at Christmas 2,000 and gave
him two bags of gold dust to make a new start to his life with.
