Dr Grace Holloway appeared with the Doctor in The TV Movie.

An accomplished surgeon and opera buff, Grace Holloway first encountered the Doctor in San Francisco, where he was fighting for his life after being cut down by a hail of bullets.

Although she did her best to save him, Grace was confused by his alien anatomy and he died on the operating table. Naturally, she was shocked when she found a stranger in her car who claimed to be the man she had just killed.

Soon she found herself in a race against time to prevent the destruction of the Earth, in the company of the Doctor's eighth incarnation. Hypnotised into helping him the Master eventually killed her in an act of frustration but The Doctor defeated him and the TARDIS regenerated both her and Lee and brought them back to life. The Doctor and Grace shared a kiss before he asked her to join him in the TARDIS. She said no and he went on alone.

Daphne Ashbrook was born on January 30, 1963 in Long Beach, California. She is the sister of actor Dana Ashbrook who appeared in Twin Peaks and Dawson's Creek.

She has appeared in many television and film roles including Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (as the titular character in "Melora") and the Doctor Who television movie, in which she played the role of Doctor Grace Holloway. Her part in Doctor Who caused consternation among some fans because the Doctor shares a romantic kiss with her at the end of the movie, whereas he had been a rather asexual character when previously portrayed on television. In 2004, Daphne went on a trip to the United Kindgom, which was later released on DVD in 2005, Daphne Ashbrook in the UK. This DVD documentary covered her involvement with Doctor Who. The trip also involved her working on one of the Doctor Who audio dramas, where she performed in the Big Finish Productions audio play The Next Life opposite Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor, but playing a different character named Perfection (this was the first time the two stars had worked together again since the 1996 telemovie). In 2006, she played Charlotte Howell in the audio drama Dark Shadows: The Book of Temptation for the same company.

Daphne Ashbrook is notable for being one of the few actors to appear in both the Star Trek and Doctor Who franchises.
