Pete Tyler was Rose’s father, killed when
she was only a baby. When she persuaded The Doctor to take her back
to see him she prevented his death, only to unleash the ‘Reapers’
on the world. Pete, a wide boy who dreamed of making it rich with
one of his money-making schemes proved his courage by going out and
letting himself be killed in a car accident as he was meant to have
done, in order to set history straight and save the world.
Later, The Doctor and Rose met an alternative universe version of
Pete who was rich and successful but estranged from his wife. He was
working as an undercover agent within Lumic’s organisation and
helped Rose infiltrate the Cybermen’s base of operations. But
his wife, Jackie, had already been killed by them. Later, he and a
group of fighter crossed the void to the universe where Pete was dead
but Jackie was alive to fight the Dalek and Cyberman double threat.
He took Jackie with him back to his universe and later returned to
rescue Rose from certain death, the whole family being reunited in
the alternative universe but cut off from The Doctor.
