The
Sixth Doctor was problematic. A complete contrast to the gentle, kindly
Fifth Doctor. Arrogant, self-absorbed, stubborn, childish, argumentative
and tasteless were all adjectives that could be applied. Even unlikeable
or loathesome. Most of all his impatience with everyone, his companions
especially, never quite sat right with anyone. But even at his most
irrational he was determined to defeat evil in whatever form it took.
He had a sense of right and wrong that was absolute. As the character
developed he did prove to be a Doctor who gained the loyalty and trust
of the innocent just like all those who went before him.
