Doctor Who, Dr. Who, Chris Eccleston, Christopher Eccleston, Doctor who FictionThe Lord of SangC'lune was written simply because so many people LIKE SangC’lune stories. This time, it is written entirely from the Point of View of Jackie. That is why it doesn’t have a scene inside the pyramid, but focuses on Rose and Jackie outside while The Doctor is talking to his other selves. Jackie sees how he reacts to the cruelty of one of his ‘subjects’ in the fields, and to the worshippers who come to greet him. She is grateful for his kindness to her. And then, in the night, she talks to him about so many issues that they both need to talk about before sharing a minor ‘adventure’ as The Doctor helps one of his people through a difficult childbirth, Jackie, a mother herself, proving his able right hand woman. Jackie has ‘grown’ as well as Rose. She is less the silly council house tart and more confident and sure of herself.

In the scene where they cross the square on the way back to the Hall, I had played with the possibility of Jackie and The Doctor kissing, but decided against it as even an innocent kiss played into the hands of the more lurid fan-fiction writers who envisage three in the bed mother and daughter romps. Not that I had anything of the kind in mind, only a deeper understanding between the two. That deeper understanding is there anyway, I think.
