John Lumic is a shrewd businessman who owns nearly everything worth having in Alternative Universe Britain, but he is dying. His answer to that is to fund the creation of artificially enhanced life – Cybermen. He has already created an army of them using the homeless of London. His plan was to be upgraded himself with his last breath, but his own creations turned on him and made him into the cybercontroller.

Death – He is killed by the Cybermen when The Doctor interrupts the emotion inhibitor and they see what he had done to them.
