Luke Smith is Sarah Jane Smith’s adopted son. He was born as a teenager using an accelerated growth programme by the Bane, and is extremely intelligent, but often lacking in understanding of Human nature and especially teenage culture. When the Daleks stole the Earth to use in their plan to destroy the universe, he was frightened but tried not to show it. Sarah Jane left him in the attic, protected by the super computer, Mr Smith while she looked for The Doctor. When the fight was won, Luke helped set up the ‘tow rope’ that allowed The Doctor to tow the Earth back where it belonged. Sarah Jane and Luke had one last encounter with The
Tenth Doctor when he saved Luke from being run over by a car. Without
being told, Sarah Jane knew that she would not see him in that incarnation
again.
