Mr Magpie was the overdrawn owner of a television sales shop in 1953. He was the first Human contact of the Wire and was promised his life and his sanity if he helped her to construct a portable device that would allow her to moved from his TV shop to Alexander Palace where she could put her master plan into operation. He had several opportunities to tell the truth and ask for help, when Rose came to the shop, and later The Doctor. But fear of The Wire kept him from doing so, and he was complicit in The Wire’s attacks on them.

Death – The Wire consumed him once he got to the top of the Television mast with the portable device and was expendable.
