Name – Maitland
Maitland was captain of the ship that had become trapped in the orbit of the Sens-Sphere. He has the look and bearing of a stereotypical airline pilot, with a middle class accent and clean haircut. He and Carol and the third crew member, John, lived in fear of the Sensorites, even though they seemed to care for them and brought them food of a sort. When the others go down to the planet he and Barbara remain behind on the ship.
