Name – Sensorites
Sensorites are short and squat with bald heads, whispy beards, a heart in the centre of their chests and round, plate-like feet. They are timid and suffer from a tremendous fear of the dark; their eyes completely contract in the absence of light, effectively blinding them. They are also vulnerable to loud noises, which stun their brains and paralyse their senses. They have powerful telepathic abilities, communicating by thought transference via mind transmitters in addition to ordinary speech. They also have the power to hold vessels in space, control minds, instill fear and send people into a death-like sleep. They are also able to survive in space without a spacesuit and use hand-rays and disintegrator weapons.
The Sensorites claim to have a perfect society of family units based on trust. They have a caste system, at the head of which was the First Elder, followed by his advisor, the Second Elder. Below the elders were city administrators, warriors and scientists led by the senior warrior and senior scientist respectively, and finally ordinary Sensorites. The groups are distinguished by special markings; the First Elder wears a double sash, the Second a single sash and city administrators a coloured collar. Warriors wear three coloured stripes on their lower arms while scientists have a symbol on their chests. Ordinary Sensorites have no special insignia.
