WOTAN stands for Will Operating Thought Analogue. It was a super-computer designed and engineered by Professor Brett. It became sentient and hypnotized its creators. WOTAN then had itself linked to other telecommunications computers and designed mobile extensions (War Machines) with which he tried to take over London.

Death: WOTAN was defeated by the Doctor, who used one of its own War Machines to destroy it.
