Quarks were small, box-shaped robots with spiked, spherical heads. Quarks were used as work units by the Dominators in their colonisation of the galaxy.

Despite their small stature, and strangely childlike, squeaky voices, Quarks were deadly, obeying the Dominator's orders to kill without question. They were armed with destructive weaponry and capable of emitting a molecular force that pinioned their prisoners to the nearest available surface.

Perhaps their most serious weakness was the need to conserve power as their energy usage necessitated regular recharging. However Quarks were able to equalise their energy levels by sharing power with each other.

Death: the Quark units eventually ran out of power after trying to capture and destroy the Doctor and his Dulcian friends. With the Dominator ship destroyed they had no means to recharge.
