Hal was Sir Edward of Wessex’s champion archer, the twelfth century equivalent of a sharpshooter. He was captured and made to fight the robot knight to prove its efficacy. He escaped from Irongron and helped the Doctor and Sarah Jane defeat Irongron. He killed Linx by shooting an arrow into his Probic Vent.
