The Garm was the mysterious dog-headed creature who lived on Terminus. He was very big and strong, and cured some of the Lazars with controlled radiation. His ministrations saved Nyssa from Lazar disease. He helped the Doctor disable the unstable engine which threatened the universe. In exchange, the Doctor freed him from the sonic box which enabled the Vanir to control him and went on to help Nyssa to run a real hospital on Terminus.
