Hindle was a young officer and member of the Imperial Earth expedition force to Deva Loka. The Kinda's attempts to have him and Commander Sanders mind-meld with them caused them to become mentally unbalanced. Spurred by the Mara, the paranoid Hindle almost destroyed the planet. He was cured by the Doctor with the Kinda's Jhana Box, and left Deva Loka purged of his inner fears.
