The company Terminus, Inc. promised them a cure, but instead shipped them to Terminus, where they were herded into the Forbidden Zone by the Vanir. There, some of them were cured by the Garm, using a very hit and miss process. They were then, allegedly shipped back to civilization, though nobody knew anyone who had.
