Well, this little lot came out ages ago, but I didn’t have the time or money to collect them. Big mistake, since I only got three of them for on or less than the RRP of £7.99. Three of them cost me considerably more because I had to pay ‘rare’ prices for them. Incidentally, don’t take Amazon’s word on this. I shopped around and beat them down by £15 each in all three cases. They’re not always the best option, although they’re probably the safest place to use a credit card online.
I got Captain Jack Harkness with the Doctor's Severed Hand in Jar first, because I wanted Captain Jack with the Doctor’s hand! This yielded the Stand & Base. They kindly put both of those pieces in one package. And I love my Captain Jack with severed hand, even though I have an identical Captain Jack which just came with a gun – lost somewhere behind the shelf by now.
Jack with Hand Jack with Jack I then bought a couple of the cheaper models. Jabe with Scanner – which I found under the shelf after taking the picture – was at least a new figure for my collection, and she’s not at all bad looking for a tree. She came with one of the blue ghost tails.
Astrid Peth was cheap, less than a fiver plus P&P, so I didn’t mind TOO much that I already had an Astrid from the Voyage of the Damned set. This one isn’t wearing her apron. I’m not sure if that’s significant. I must look at the episode and see if Astrid took her apron off at any point. Astrid comes with the body of one of the blue ghosts.
New Astrid Without Apron Old and New Astrid The Regenerated Master was cheap, too. And that’s a very good thing because this model is IDENTICAL to the one from the Utopia set. He doesn’t even take his apron off like Astrid. It is a rip off, thanks, guys. The Master comes with the other ghost tail.
Regenerated Master Two Regenerated Masters Bannakaffalatta with Removable Shirt Cyborg Reveal & EMP Device was one of the rarer ones. It cost me £15.99 plus P&P. It’s a nice little piece but I don’t take his shirt off very often and the EMP device gets lost every other day. Bannakaffalatta came with the main Gelth phantom body which took up more space in the box than he did.
Bannakaffalatta
Banna and Astrid for proportion of size.
Shirtless Banna The Tenth Doctor (Old & Ancient Versions) was advertised on Amazon at £29.99 plus P&P. I managed to shop around and got it for half that. However, I have quite an issue with this product. All of the promotional pictures of the product give the impression that the ancient version of the Doctor was a reasonable size. In the group picture it is about three-quarters of the size of Bannakaffalatta. In fact, it is a tiny thing that will probably get lost behind the shelf next time the cat jumps on it. I feel a bit ripped off about it. The phantom’s head came with the Old and Ancient Doctor.
Doctor, Old and Ancient Ancient Doctor Ancient doctor in Proportion to Bannakaffalatta Purple Clockwork Man was also advertised on Amazon at £29.99 plus P&P. The same source as the Tenth Doctor yielded it for half that price, but I seem to have got the last one. It is now no longer available at that source. I have had a blue clockwork man for ages. The purple one looks nice alongside it. It’s not so much of a rip off as the Master or Astrid, and came with the last Gelth spook tail.
Purple Clockwork Man Purple With Older Blue Brother By the way, the Gelth Phantom is a fragile nuisance of a thing. It says ‘one time assembly’ the same as the Collect and Build Giant Robot. But the Robot is nicely solid and won’t come apart even if I wanted it to. The Gelth Phantom has been reassembled from scratch five times already. I’m going to get some superglue next week or it will never survive the cat.
