Andrew Staines began his Doctor Who career in the lost Second Doctor episode, The Enemy of the World as Sergeant to Benik. In 1971, he had a brief role as a technician, Goodge, who was a victim of The Master. A more important role was as Captain of the SS Bernice in Carnival of Monsters in 1973. A year later he had the role of Keaver, one of Lupton’s acolytes in Planet of the Spiders.
