Michael Sheard, better known in later years as Mr Bronson in the BBC children's series, Grange Hill, appeared in Doctor Who in three different decades and with five different Doctors. His first appearance was in the First Doctor story The Ark, in 1966. With the third Doctor he appeared as Doctor Summers in The Mind of Evil. His first big role was as Laurence Scarman in the Fourth Doctor story, Pyramids of Mars. Two years later, he was Supervistor Lowe in another Fourth Doctor story The Invisible Enemy. Five years later, in 1982, he wore an unfortunate hat as Mergrave in the Fifth Doctor debut story, Castrovalva. And finally, in 1988, he played a role which most people would identify him with, after his Grange Hill stint, as the headmaster of Coal Hill School.
