Michael Wisher interviewed in 1984

Michael Wisher is best known for playing Davros in the iconic Fourth Doctor episode, Genesis of The Daleks. But he had been a stalwart of Doctor Who since 1969, when he was an uncredited voice on Seeds of Death. A year later, he played John Wakefield in ambassadors of Death and Rex Farrell in Terror of The Autons. In 1972, his first substantial role was as Kalik in Carnival of Monsters. That was followed by voice roles as Daleks in Frontier in Space, Planet of the Daleks and Death to the Daleks before the landed the role of Davros.

Contrary to popular belief, Michael only played Davros in Genesis of the Daleks. In subsequent Davros stories the role was played by David Gooderson and Terry Molloy. But he is the one most associated with the role.

Subsequent to his success as Davros he returned to Doctor Who to play two more character parts, Magrik in Revenge of the Cybermen Morelli in Planet of Evil.
