Alan Wheatley, as Temmosus, the leader of the Thals, has the distinction of being the first person to be killed by a Dalek in Doctor Who. At that point he was already a veteran actor, having begun his film career in 1937. He was also known for TV appearances as The Sherrif of Nottingham in the 1950s.
