In his First Role - A Doctor Who Soldier

Mike Reid is known to those of us of a certain age group for two things. First, as presenter of the rather exhausting kids quiz show Runaround that challenged the contestants to stick to their guns and not give in to peer pressure. Second, as Frank Butcher in Eastenders. He did a lot of other TV and film before and after those most memorable roles. And he gets into the Doctor Who obituary because his first EVER screen role was as a soldier in The War Machines in 1966. so Doctor Who actually launched his TV career! He was seen again, of course, in Dimensions in Time, but that’s another story.
