Royston Tickner was a Royal Navy officer and a lighthouse keeper before he turned to acting.

In Doctor Who he played Steinberger P. Green in the The Feast of Steven episode of Dalek Masterplan in 1966, and Robbins in the 1972 story, Sea Devils.
