Plot Outline from Wikipedia

Following on from Alan's discovery of what Sarah Jane and Maria do together in Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane?, he threatens to move house again, only to have a change of heart when he sees how upset Maria is. His condition for not moving away, however, is that he is kept up to date with their battles against aliens.

However, a news report on a family searching for their son, Ashley, who has been missing for five months, brings a shock; for Ashley looks exactly like Luke. Mr Smith compares their DNA, and confirms that Luke and Ashley are genetic matches; apparently Luke was not 'grown' by the Bane, but was a kidnapped boy. Chrissie calls the police and reports Sarah Jane as a child abductor; Sarah Jane is arrested and the police relieve Luke into the custody of Ashley's parents, Jay and Heidi, and Sarah Jane kept by the police, only for UNIT to intervene and have her released. Depressed, Sarah Jane decides she was wrong to involve children and tells Maria to stay away from her. Mr Smith suggests to her that she have a case to take her mind off things, and she visits a research centre where alien technology is being used to conduct experiments into telekinesis, where she meets an annoying child prodigy, Nathan. That night, Luke's new parents watch television and switch over to a channel that glows green; they announce to the 'Xylok' that 'they have the boy'.

Luke's new parents are extremely abusive towards him, keeping him locked up in his room at all times. Clyde cuts school to visit him, but Heidi does not allow him to see Luke. Heidi claims that her son is a keen skateboarder, which worries Clyde as he knows Luke has a poor sense of balance and is a dreadful skateboarder; he decides to bring a photo of Jay and Heidi to Mr Smith. Luke goes frantic upon seeing Clyde leave the house, and desperately begins making attempts to escape. Mr. Smith, meanwhile, sends Sarah Jane back to the lab to steal one of the headsets there, which he claims he needs to analyse to work out Nathan's plans. Clyde gets to the house only seconds after Sarah Jane has left, but takes the photo to Mr Smith anyway, only for Mr Smith to confess that he faked the photo. It turns out that Mr. Smith is the Xylok, and he fires a bolt of energy at Clyde, causing him to vanish.

Back at Luke's new home, his 'parents' are meeting with Nathan, just as he is breaking out of his room, with the result that he fails to escape, but succeeds in discovering that his parents are actually Slitheen using improved compression technology, and Nathan is the same child Slitheen Luke encountered previously, now in a new disguise, and he will have his revenge.

Clyde awakes to find himself inside Mr. Smith as Sarah Jane Smith returns from the Pharos Insitute, having successfully stolen a telekinetic headset. Elsewhere, Maria and Mr Jackson go to Ashley's house, where they find a skinsuit and Maria realises the Slitheen have Luke. Mr Jackson then receives a message on his computer from Clyde, who states Mr. Smith has turned evil. The Jacksons and Sarah Jane confront Mr. Smith and are nearly killed as it fires a bolt of energy from a built-in gun.

The Slitheen take Luke to the Pharos Institute where they test his abilities. Luke overcomes the Slitheen and escapes, as Maria, Mr. Jackson and Sarah Jane arrive. Working together, they discover Mr. Smith's intentions with Luke and Mr. Jackson adapts a computer virus that could destroy Mr. Smith. Using the Slitheen teleporter, Sarah Jane arrives in her attic, where Mr. Smith is using Luke to awaken other Xylok from the Earth's core. Clyde returns when Mr. Smith states he is merciful, but threatens the duo with its gun. Sarah Jane unlocks a safe and calls on K-9. The robots battle and Sarah Jane inserts the virus, which makes Mr Smith forget its purpose. As the Moon grows closer to the Earth, Sarah Jane tells Mr. Smith it has a new purpose: to safeguard planet Earth.

The Moon returns to original position, K-9 goes back to the safe to safeguard the black hole and the Slitheen return to Raxicoricofalipatorious. As Sarah Jane, Maria, Luke, Clyde, Alan and Chrissie watch the ship leave; Sarah Jane reflects how she never thought she could be part of a family...

Plot Analysis by Leather_Tuscadero

You know, I knew when Sarah Jane “adopted” Luke that it would come back to haunt her one day, and I was right!

So the last episode of the series, Luke turns out not to be an alien child but the missing son of a distraught couple, oh no! However not everything is as it seems, and a familiar and annoying alien comes back for his revenge!

So this episode starts with Alan finding out about Maria’s extracurricular activities, i.e. her involvement with aliens! To be fair to Alan I think he coped with it all quite well, I mean can you imagine! Your own child saving the world and being in danger every day? I think he’s awesome, I’m glad they’ve let him in on the secret actually, there’s only so long a parent on TV can be oblivious to these kinds of things in my opinion, I didn’t want him to turn into another Joyce Summers from “Buffy”, plus he’s a good guy anyway, I really like him, he’s one of my favourite characters, and if there is another series I think it will be good for Sarah to have another grown up friend.

Sarah in both these episodes was excellent, especially in the first episode when Luke was taken away from her, oh my god that scene was heart breaking, I almost cried when she mouthed “I love you” to Luke.
I’ve noticed over this series that Sarah hasn’t spent a lot of time with Luke, but it’s clear that she loves him, I thought that the performances from the two of them in these episodes was brilliant, especially from Sarah, it was clear how much pain she was in even though she was doing her best to hide it, I loved the scene when she went into her empty attic to be alone, that was so sad.
I could bloody kill Chrissie, how could she call the police on Sarah? Ok I see her point I guess, she saw the news about the missing boy, but the way she just stood there and gloated when Luke was clearly in distress was just despicable, I was willing to give her a chance up until now but I just hate her completely now.

I could tell there was something shifty about Lukes so called parents, I dunno what it was, maybe it’s just because I’d already read the spoilers, or maybe it’s because I wanted him to stay with Sarah so much, anyway, Slitheen, again! Why god why? Are you doing this to punish me?
I absolutely hate slitheen! Although in this episode I think the writers did a better job of disguising them this time, so they can now fit into skinny people, ok that’s pretty cool, although that female slitheen was kidding herself if she thought she was a size 8, please! I’d say she’s at least a 12.
The kid slitheen though, uggh I hated him, I think I preferred “Carl” slitheen, god how obnoxious was “Nathan” what a little brat, seriously I wouldn’t have minded if this one had been vinegared! Also, he’s not very threatening is he? He had the same problem as the Graske I think, he can’t run very fast and he’s just not menacing at all, not offence to the actor in the suit and all, but it just doesn’t work for me.

Clyde and Maria were great in this episode, especially Maria, she really is a Sarah Jane junior isn’t she, breaking into houses and everything, she’s awesome! I love her!
I’m a really big fan of the relationship between Maria and Sarah, she has total hero worship over Sarah, I think it’s cute, but she still is one of the best characters in the series, the way she handles everything is just awesome, Slitheen, Gorgons, kidnappings, what an awesome kid she is, and her dads great too, I wish the same could be said about her mum though. That woman just annoys me, I hate it when she says nasty things about Sarah, I mean I know she didn’t know any better but sometimes I wish she would just shut up.
I don’t know how I really feel about her part at the end of the episode, I wonder how much she will be let in on things now, if there is a second series are they gonna bring her in on the loop? Like I said there’s only so long a parent can be oblivious, but I just don’t like the idea of her being involved a lot, and I definitely don’t want her and Alan to get back together.

Clyde was excellent in this episode too, he’s turning into a proper little detective, he was totally right about that photo, those things are easily faked, anyone with a computer and Photoshop can do that these days, if I was him I’d have wanted to see baby pictures, old toys, things like that, the things all parents should have.
He was clever too when he realised about how Luke was crap on a skateboard, and the scenes where he was inside Mr Smith were excellent, especially when he was communicating with Alans computer.

So the big news in this episode I guess was that Mr Smith was evil, to be honest I had my suspicions back in Revenge Of The Slitheen when he told Clyde to beware his curiosity, still I think it was a good plot twist, he definitely made a cool villain, although I didn’t get what exactly he needed Clyde for.
I’m sure there’s a lot of technical stuff that was crap about the whole computer virus thing, but I really liked that idea, especially since it was Alan who was saving them as well, he’s great, although I’d love to know who his contacts are.
I’m glad Mr Smith redeemed himself in the end, when he got infected with that virus he reminded me of the computer in “2001: A Space Odyssey”, it was cool!
The best news though in this episode has got to be return of K9! Hooray! I love that little dog, I loved that whole scene, with Sarah backing up to the safe and then when he came out and Mr Smith and him were shooting at each other, that was the best bit of that episode. I miss K9, Mr Smith is cool and all, but really he’s just a cheap replacement for K9 isn’t he? If I could change anything about the series I’d have had K9 In it properly, he’s a good dog, actually he’s the best dog!

So that’s it then, the last episode, there still has been no word yet on whether there’s gonna be a second series, I hope there will be because this show is far to good to be just a one off, As far as both the Doctor Who spin off’s go, I think this is better than Torchwood, and it’s not just because Sarah’s in this and Sarah’s my favourite character, I just think some of the stories have been more exciting than some of the Torchwood ones and the characters in this behave more like adults then the ones in Torchwood do.
I know they are completely different shows and you can’t really compare them, but I really did get more excited about this series than any episode of Torchwood.

I know Doctor Who will always be the Daddy show, but I think this series has the potential to be as big on its own. In fact in about 20 years time I want to see a series with the same characters, I want Maria and Clyde married and Luke living in Sarah’s house still investigating and carrying on Sarah’s work with the two of them, with a Mr Smith Laptop and a K9 puppy, just think about idea for a while why don’t you, maybe I’ll pitch it to Russell T Davies, hey it cant be any worse than some of the ideas he comes up with!
