Dr Tanizaki was an expert in cybernetics who travelled from Japan at Ianto’s invitation to examine Lisa, his partially converted girlfriend who he had hidden in Torchwood’s basement. He was ecstatic about having ‘one of them’ to work on, and upset Ianto by failing to see the Human part of Lisa, only a mechanical thing. He partially succeeded in reviving her, but the Cyberman conditioning resurfaced and Lisa attacked him.

Death: Dr Tanizaki was killed when the attempt to cyber convert him failed.
