Max, a large, rough looking man, is a dupe used by Suzie. She used retcon on him and hypnotic triggers using the poems of Emily Dickinson to make him commit murders after she was dead. When he is captured by Torchwood, his repetition of the Dickinson poems triggers a lockdown set up by Suzie. He was last seen naked in the Torchwood cell, repeating the poem maniacally.

Shend, born 17 November 1957, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, was the driving force behind top 80s UK indie group The Cravats. After they split, he formed The Very Things and The Babymen. In the 1990s he fronted a band called Grimetime.
