Tony Selby was an established character actor, often in comedy, long before his role as Sabalom Glitz in Doctor Who. Afterwards, he continued in various TV roles. Who remembers him in ‘Mulberry’, a gentle comedy staring Karl Howman, Tony Selby and Geraldine McEwan, or his role as Max Taplow in Love Hurts, starring Adam Faith and fellow Doctor Who star, Zoe Wannamaker? Then there was Sergeant Nozzer Richardson in “The Detectives”. And his most recent major role was as Uncle Clive Mitchell, lost sheep of the Mitchell clan in Eastenders.
